Porto Ferreira Late Bottled Vintage (or LBV) is a high-quality Port Wine combining the unique characteristics of the vintage in which it was made with the convenience of being ready to enjoy immediately or following additional bottle-ageing. LBV Port Wines hail from a single vintage and are bottled between the 4th and 6th year following the vintage.
Porto Ferreira LBV 2008 is deep red ruby in colour. Developed and aromatically intense, the wines bouquet harbours a strong presence of fully ripened red berries as well as subtle oak notes, such as cedar and tobacco box. In the mouth the wine reveals its excellent harmony and complexity, firm and obvious tannins, and noteworthy flavours of fully ripened red berries and chocolate. The wine possesses a fine acidity and an enormously elegant, prolonged finish.
WINEMAKER: Luís Sottomayor

Porto Ferreira LBV 2008 was produced according to traditional Porto Wine methods. Grapes were
handpicked at their optimal point of ripeness. Fermentation, which took place after pressing, in stainless steel vats, was duly interrupted on its 3rd day through the addition of aguardente, a grape spirit. The resulting wines are naturally sweet and complex, dark and full-bodied with a rich aromatic density.
The different wines selected to become part of the final blend of Porto Ferreira LBV 2008 were transported to the traditional cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia, where they aged for 4 years in oak casks, under ideal temperature and humidity conditions. The balanced and gradual evolution of these wines was the subject of constant attention from the Ferreira winemaking team, which developed the final blend following painstaking tastings and evaluation of individual lots. The resulting wine was then bottled without cold stabilization, making the development of a natural sediment likely over the years.
Porto Ferreira Late Bottled Vintage 2007 is presented in a black-glass bottle sealed with a stopper-cork that guarantees optimum closure should the bottle be cellared. The bottle should be kept horizontally, at a constant temperature between 16ºC and 18ºC.
Porto Ferreira LBV 2008 is ready to be drunk and does not require decanting. However, after a few years, it is natural that it may develop a deposit, in which case decanting is recommended. Serve between 17ºC-20ºC. Once open, Porto Ferreira LBV 2008 should be enjoyed within 4-5 days in order to preserve all its freshness and flavours, which will tend to change following exposure to air.
Porto Ferreira LBV 2008 may be served on its own but also matches splendidly with cheeses, chocolate-rich desserts and red berry or forest-fruit tarts.
