Description | Marquês de Borba - Red Wine
Marquês de Borba Red Wine is one of João Portugal Ramos’s best-known labels, crafted in Portugal’s Alentejo region from a blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Petit Verdot and Merlot. The vineyards are planted on limestone and schist soils, helping to shape a red with both richness and balance. Grapes are harvested by a mix of hand-picking and machine, then fully destemmed and fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, with part of the blend also vinified in traditional marble lagares.
Matured for six months in second- and third-use French and American oak barrels, this Alentejo red gains added depth and subtle complexity without losing its vibrant fruit character. The aroma is generous and concentrated, offering notes of wild berries, cassis and ripe dark fruit. On the palate, it is smooth and well-rounded, with supple tannins, fresh acidity and a well-judged structure. Versatile and easy to enjoy, Marquês de Borba Tinto is a polished Portuguese red wine that captures the warm, expressive style of Alentejo.
