Galicia - Wines

Galicia, in northwest Spain, has five DO wine zones: Ribeiro, Ribeira Sacra, Monterrei, Valdeorras and Rias Baixas. Wine production dates back to Roman times and continued throughout the Middle Ages. Known for its fresh, aromatic Albariño, Galicia focuses on whites, with varieties such as Loureiro, Godello and Torrontés, while reds, mainly Mencía, are produced in the warmer inland regions.
